This Ribe brown rice is grown in the provinces of Pavia, Vercelli and Novara.
Ribe brown rice has a characteristic dark colour that differentiates it from the typical whiteness of refined rice.
This is due to the partial processing it undergoes, during which only the outermost skins called husk, which are indigestible for humans, are removed.
It therefore represents a healthier and more natural alternative
Brown rice has a lower glycemic index than refined rice, which makes it more suitable for the diet of obese people, type 2 diabetics, hypertriglyceridemics and, in general, those suffering from metabolic syndrome.
Brown rice provides more lipids, proteins and fibres than white rice. Vitamins and minerals are also more abundant in brown rice than in refined rice.
in the kitchen: Ribe brown rice is ideal for soups and broths with vegetables and legume purees, excellent as a side dish for meats and cheeses.
It can also be enjoyed alone, boiled and seasoned with extra virgin olive oil or a knob of butter. If used as a risotto, it is better to add the seasoning at the moment of serving.
How to use: Cook the rice in water considering one part rice for three parts water. Once it reaches boiling point, add salt to taste and finish cooking on a moderate heat for about 1 hour.
